PAULA MEADOWS MASON, M.A.
Paula is a Christian, Ordained Minister, Certified Life Coach, and Resident in Counseling. She received her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Old Dominion University and a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Norfolk State University.
Counseling is my calling, and I facilitate an environment where healing the wounded and the brokenhearted can occur in both men and women. I look forward to walking side-by-side with my clients as they walk the path to wholeness and restoration. With God’s help, we can overcome all struggles, mindsets, and obstacles!
My counseling style involves providing sound, clinically-based therapy while integrating principles supported by biblical doctrine. When utilizing proven therapeutic techniques and theories and partnering them with the client’s faith, this produces effective, positive, and long-lasting change while increasing the client’s self-esteem, confidence, and inner peace.
By providing a positive, safe, and comfortable environment, my goal is to welcome and encourage the transparency and openness of my clients. This is needed to bring change, healing, deliverance, and restoration to relationships, the mind, and the spirit.
My specialty is working with blended families. I help and support couples navigate the unexpected challenges and issues that are unique to the “blending” process and new family dynamics, such as issues related to:
- Former spouses (and their new spouses)
- Previous hurt/grief
- Loss or change in family traditions.
- Differences in step-parenting and parenting styles.
- Dynamics related to children adjusting to step-siblings
