Lovetta Ritchie, LMFT, C-DBT
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist
Lovetta Ritchie, LMFT, C-DBT, is a Licensed Marriage and Family and Certified Dialectical Behavior Therapist (DBT), serving the Commonwealth of Virginia. With an eclectic counseling style, she thoughtfully integrates Biblical truths and principles into personalized therapeutic work. Lovetta believes that the healing process begins with a strong, trust-filled relationship between therapist and client-a cornerstone of her practice.
She currently facilitates three DBT groups for teens and adults, helping individuals build essential skills in emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance. As a certified DBT therapist, Lovetta brings evidence-based practices with deep compassion and care.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Lovetta retired in 2006 after 20 years of honorable service. Following her military career, she pursued higher education, earning Associate and Bachelor's degrees in Business Administration, and later a Master's degree in Counseling from Liberty University in 2016. Her professional journey includes serving as a U.S. government contractor and working within a major health system in Hampton Roads, where she and her family have made their home.
Beyond her clinical work, Lovetta finds joy in everyday moments-watching Marvel movies, taking long walks, playing with her grandchildren, and enjoying quality time with family. She's been a devoted member of New Life Church (DC) for over 15 years, and when fall arrives, she delights in decorating her home with the season's vibrant colors.
"Service didn't end with retirement-it simply changed its form."
